Allow us to expedite your ATF Application with our innovative EFS Processing

Federal firearms licensee (FFL) registrants will find the ATF’s updated eForm submissions to be much simpler and less time-consuming than the old  ATF tax stamp process.

How much faster? Consider this:

  • Unlike the 60 days to 5-month processing period required by paper-based ATF Form 1 applications, the wait time for electronic submission (eFiling) may be reduced to as few as 10 days!

  • ATF eForm 4 applications are processed in approximately 250-370 days,  as opposed to the 10-14 months it typically takes to process paper-based ATF Form 4 applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who needs to submit ATF applications?

The ATF processes different forms for different types of transactions. In general terms, these forms are required for consumers, manufacturers, and dealers to buy, sell, and build items regulated by the ATF.

When did ATF begin offering eForms?

ATF began offering this streamlined process on Dec 23, 2021. As of March, 2023, only Forms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6A, 9, 10, and 5300.11 are available in eForm format.

What is the difference between an ATF Form 1 and an ATF Form 4?

The purpose of an AFT Form 1 is to apply to make and register a firearm. It should be used by someone needing approval to make NFA items.

The purpose of ATF Form 4 is to request approval to transfer an NFA item.

How long does it typically take for ATF to process applications?

Since the answer to this question varies, the AFT publishes this list detailing current wait times for application processing.

How do I check the status of my eFrom after submission?
After your form is received, you will receive an email noting the status of your application as  ‘submitted’.
You can contact the ATF for status updates at (877) 283-3352.
